* drm/display: Move SCDC helpers into display-helper libraryThomas Zimmermann2022-04-251-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | SCDC is the Status and Control Data Channel for HDMI. Move the SCDC helpers into display/ and split the header into files for core and helpers. Update all affected drivers. No functional changes. To avoid the proliferation of Kconfig options, SCDC is part of DRM's support for HDMI. If necessary, a new option could make SCDC an independent feature. * drm/display: Move HDMI helpers into display-helper moduleThomas Zimmermann2022-04-252-1/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Move DRM's HMDI helpers into the display/ subdirectoy and add it to DRM's display helpers. Update all affected drivers. No functional changes. The HDMI helpers were implemented in the EDID and connector code, but are actually unrelated. With the move to the display-helper library, we can remove the dependency on drm_edid.{c,h} in some driver's HDMI source files. Several of the HDMI helpers remain in EDID code because both share parts of their implementation internally. With better refractoring of the EDID code, those HDMI helpers could be moved into the display-helper library as well. v3: * fix Kconfig dependencies (Javier) v2: * reduce HDMI helpers to avoid exporting functions (Jani) * fix include statements (Jani, Javier) * update Kconfig symbols Signed-off-by: Thomas Zimmermann <tzimmermann@suse.de> Reviewed-by: Javier Martinez Canillas <javierm@redhat.com> Link: https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/msgid/20220421073108.19226-8-tzimmermann@suse.de

* Revert "drm/bridge: dw-mipi-dsi: Find the possible DSI devices"Jagan Teki2022-03-311-43/+15
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This reverts commit c206c7faeb3263a7cc7b4de443a3877cd7a5e74b. In order to avoid any probe ordering issues, the I2C based downstream bridge drivers now register and attach the DSI devices at the probe instead of doing it on drm_bridge_function.attach(). Examples of those commits are: commit <6ef7ee48765f> ("drm/bridge: sn65dsi83: Register and attach our DSI device at probe") commit <d89078c37b10> ("drm/bridge: lt8912b: Register and attach our DSI device at probe") commit <864c49a31d6b> ("drm/bridge: adv7511: Register and attach our DSI device at probe") dw-mipi-dsi has panel or bridge finding code based on previous downstream bridges, so revert the same and make the panel or bridge funding in host attach as before. Use drm_mode_copy() instead which explicitly preserves the list head of the destination mode. Even if we know the destination mode is not on any list using drm_mode_copy() seems decent as it sets a good example. Bad examples of not using it might eventually get copied into code where preserving the list head actually matters. Obviously one case not covered here is when the mode itself is embedded in a larger structure and the whole structure is copied. But if we are careful when copying into modes embedded in structures I think we can be a little more reassured that bogus list heads haven't been propagated in. @is_mode_copy@ @@ drm_mode_copy(...) { ... } @depends on !is_mode_copy@ struct drm_display_mode *mode; expression E, S; @@ ( - *mode = E + drm_mode_copy(mode, &E) | - memcpy(mode, E, S) + drm_mode_copy(mode, E) ) @depends on !is_mode_copy@ struct drm_display_mode mode; expression E; @@ ( - mode = E + drm_mode_copy(&mode, &E) | - memcpy(&mode, E, S) + drm_mode_copy(&mode, E) ) @@ struct drm_display_mode *mode; @@ - &*mode + mode Cc: Andrzej Hajda <andrzej.hajda@intel.com> Cc: Neil Armstrong <narmstrong@baylibre.com> Cc: Robert Foss <robert.foss@linaro.org> Cc: Laurent Pinchart <Laurent.pinchart@ideasonboard.com> Cc: Jonas Karlman <jonas@kwiboo.se> Cc: Jernej Skrabec <jernej.skrabec@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Ville Syrjälä <ville.syrjala@linux.intel.com> Link: https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/msgid/20220218100403.7028-7-ville.syrjala@linux.intel.com Reviewed-by: Andrzej Hajda <andrzej.hajda@intel.com> Reviewed-by: Laurent Pinchart <laurent.pinchart@ideasonboard.com>
* drm/bridge: dw-hdmi: use safe format when first in bridge chainNeil Armstrong2022-02-101-2/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | When the dw-hdmi bridge is in first place of the bridge chain, this means there is no way to select an input format of the dw-hdmi HW component. Since introduction of display-connector, negotiation was broken since the dw-hdmi negotiation code only worked when the dw-hdmi bridge was in last position of the bridge chain or behind another bridge also supporting input & output format negotiation. Commit 7cd70656d128 ("drm/bridge: display-connector: implement bus fmts callbacks") was introduced to make negotiation work again by making display-connector act as a pass-through concerning input & output format negotiation. But in the case where the dw-hdmi is single in the bridge chain, for example on Renesas SoCs, with the display-connector bridge the dw-hdmi is no more single, breaking output format. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The current ELD handling takes the internal connector ELD buffer and shares it to the I2S and AHB sub-driver. But with DRM_BRIDGE_ATTACH_NO_CONNECTOR, the connector is created elsewhere (or not), and an eventual connector is known only if the bridge chain up to a connector is enabled. The current dw-hdmi code gets the current connector from atomic_enable() so use the already stored connector pointer and replace the buffer pointer with a callback returning the current connector ELD buffer. Since a connector is not always available, either pass an empty ELD to the alsa HDMI driver or don't call snd_pcm_hw_constraint_eld() in AHB driver. * drm/bridge: dw-hdmi: Always add the bridge in the global bridge listLiu Ying2020-07-101-31/+13
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | It doesn't hurt to add the bridge in the global bridge list also for platform specific dw-hdmi drivers which are based on the component framework. This can be achieved by moving the drm_bridge_add() function call from dw_hdmi_probe() to __dw_hdmi_probe(). A counterpart movement for drm_bridge_remove() is also needed then. Moreover, since drm_bridge_add() initializes &bridge->hpd_mutex, this may help those platform specific dw-hdmi drivers(based on the component framework) avoid accessing the uninitialized mutex in drm_bridge_hpd_notify() which is called in dw_hdmi_irq(). Putting drm_bridge_add() in __dw_hdmi_probe() just before it returns successfully should bring no logic change for platforms based on the DRM bridge API, which is a good choice from safety point of view. Also, __dw_hdmi_probe() is renamed to dw_hdmi_probe() since dw_hdmi_probe() does nothing else but calling __dw_hdmi_probe(). Similar renaming applies to the __dw_hdmi_remove()/dw_hdmi_remove() pair. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Implement the drm_bridge_funcs .detect() and .get_edid() operations, and call drm_bridge_hpd_notify() notify to report HPD. This provides the necessary API to support disabling connector creation, do so by accepting DRM_BRIDGE_ATTACH_NO_CONNECTOR in dw_hdmi_bridge_attach(). | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | To prepare for making connector creation optional in the driver, pass the drm_connector explicitly to the internal functions that require it. The functions that still access the connector from the dw_hdmi structure are dw_hdmi_connector_create() and __dw_hdmi_probe(). The former access is expected, as that's where the internal connector is created. The latter will be addressed separately.
